Strategies |

The word almost makes it sound like trickery or black hat techniques. In fact, your strategy is simply how you go about setting up your pages and the site as a whole.
One strategy, which is also talked about on the next page but with a different system of coding is a method of having your main page content shown first to the search engine spider, rather than having it go through your top navigation, banner, header etc., plus the left navigation, and then finding the main body of your site.
With CSS and absolute positioning, you can move your main body content to the beginning of your code and page and the engines will see that first.
Javascript Navigation
Is not indexable. If this is the only navigation you have the rest of your site will never be found. But, there could be a benefit in this.
I once had a site where we had to create static pages from the dynamically created pages. Some of this was indexable and some wasn't. We used a javascript navigation to the dynamic pages, so our users could find the actual site and shop and purchase, but the engines did not find these pages. Elsewhere we provided the engines navigation between all of our static pages. It worked and was quite successful. Not exactly above board, but I don't feel it was spammy or unethical either. We simply provided users with navigation to dynamic pages, but not the engines.
